About the game

Master Chess is a straight chess match on a board you can pull up in a browser. You take turns moving your pieces and try to checkmate the other king. Your opponent is either the computer or another person somewhere else in the world. Winning comes down to planning a few moves ahead and watching what the other side is setting up.

How to play

  • On a computer, select a piece with a click, then click the square where it should land.
  • On a phone, do the same with taps: pick the piece, then pick its destination square.
  • Take turns with your opponent and aim to checkmate the king.
