How Poki uses browser storage and cookies

Tracking cookies are not something Poki puts to use. Here, the only thing the pages you visit store is what a game requires to remember your progress, such as a score you set or a level you reached.

What gets stored on our end

A game may write small bits of data to your browser while you play, for example a cookie linked to that game or local storage. The reason it exists is so that your run does not begin again from zero whenever you return. Following you across other sites is not what we use it for.

Framed games and the ad partner behind them

A lot of games are loaded within a frame supplied by the studio that created them. Cookies may be placed inside the game frame by that studio and by the ad partner it works with. Ownership of those cookies rests with them, not with us, and from our side we have no way to read or alter them. Where a game carries ads, its ad partner might place cookies to cap how often you see one or to count impressions.

The way consent is given

Starting a game is how you consent. By loading a game page and hitting play, you agree to the storage that the game and its ad partner rely on. Should you not want this, shut the game down before it begins.

Removing or blocking cookies

  • Go into your browser settings and locate the privacy or cookies area.
  • To stop most cookies placed inside game frames, block third-party cookies.
  • To wipe saved progress, delete existing cookies and site data for this site.
  • For a fresh session every time, use a private window.

A game's save feature can stop working when cookies are blocked, so a level might not load where you left off. That is the trade-off, and the decision is yours.
