Master Checkers

Master Checkers

About the game

Master Checkers follows Italian checkers rules on a board where nothing travels in a straight line. Every piece stays on the dark squares and moves diagonally, and a normal piece only goes toward the other side.

Capturing works by hopping over an enemy piece and landing on the empty dark square just beyond it. One piece per hop, though a single turn can carry several hops in a row. There is no choice about skipping a capture: if a jump is open to you, you take it, which shapes nearly every decision. A piece that finishes on the row farthest from its owner gets crowned and can then go forward or backward. Pick the computer, someone beside you or a player online.

How to play

  • Select one of your pieces, then a dark square diagonally ahead of it.
  • To capture, hop over an enemy piece and land on the dark square right behind it.
  • If a jump is available, you must make it; several hops can follow in the same move.
  • Reach the far row to turn a piece into a king, which moves forward or backward.
